2025 Nov 27 Letter

Dear Beloved Epping Congregation,

I recently had a chat with Heejae about our Homework Group. As you know, most of the children in the group come from Muslim families, so we need to prepare halal snacks for them. The children sometimes ask Heejae very honest questions. One of them is, “How do you pray?” How do you think Heejae answered? Probably just as you would imagine.

I’ve also heard that after our Homework Group finishes, the children go somewhere together to study the Qur’an. Even though they are being raised by parents who provide very thorough religious education, the fact that these children continue to come to our church, spend time with us, and feel at ease here is truly something precious.

We continue to offer warm greetings and kindness to both the children and their parents. And perhaps, when these children grow up and look back on these moments, the images of Christians, the church, and the memories of the time spent here will remain in their hearts as something gentle and warm. And if, through those memories, they catch even a small glimpse of Jesus, then our relationship with them is meaningful in itself, isn’t it?
